Our services & Guests
At SHOC, we provide a wide range of services to the homeless community in slough. This could be from anything such as giving someone a meal for the day or just giving the support.
OUR GUESTS
We have over 150 guests on our books and see about 40 people each day at Quaker House.
Our guests are often vulnerable adults who struggle with multiple, complex problems and are either homeless or at risk of becoming so.
The groups include:
- People with mental and/or physical health issues
- People with learning disabilities
- People with drug and/or alcohol issues
- Sex workers
- Offenders and ex-offenders
- Non-UK nationals, refugees and asylum seekers
People in these groups may be leading chaotic lifestyles and it can be hard for them to engage with services and support. To progress, they need to rebuild trust; have a supportive environment; have expert advice and guidance; and learn to value themselves again (to be taught basic life skills with sensitive and expert support). SHOC provides all this and more.
Central to the work SHOC does for the Slough community are the people involved in the day-to-day running of the centre, people who make real, positive changes to the lives of those who need SHOC’s help.
