OUR GUESTS

We have over 170 guests on our books and see about 50 people each day at Quaker House. Our clients are vulnerable adults who struggle with multiple, complex problems and are either homeless or at risk of becoming so.

The groups include:

  • People with mental and/or physical health issues
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with drug and/or alcohol issues
  • Sex workers, offenders and ex-offenders
  • Persons with no recourse to public funds, refugees and asylum seekers

People in these groups lead chaotic lifestyles and are hard to encourage into further education or formal training through the standard routes. To progress, they need to be taught basic life skills with sensitive and expert support and be provide realistic routes out of homelessness. SHOC provides this.

Central to the work SHOC does for the Slough community are the people involved in the day-to-day running of the centre, people who make real, positive changes to the lives of those who need SHOC’s help
