Support SHOC

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth”
Muhammad Ali

SHOC is community

We are only able to carry out the life changing work we do with the support of individuals; community groups; businesses; and many others in the local area, and further afield.

There are a number of ways that we are supported by our amazing community and if you wanted to get involved we would love to hear from you.

Further down this page are a number of ideas and ways we need help, the list is not definitive though and any ideas you have we would love to hear from you.

If you would like to learn more about the ways in which we can support SHOC, please contact us at [email protected] or use the form below.

Fundraise for SHOC

We do numerous fundraising events throughout the year but are always looking for others to fundraise for us, with our support.

You could hold a school event, a sponsored run/walk, even jump out of a plane. In fact there is no real limit to what you can do to help change lives. We are here to help with this and promote it to our supporters so if you want to talk through ideas please get in touch with us.

Volunteer

Individual

Volunteers are a critical and vital part of the SHOC family and there are a number of ways we can make use of your valuable time.

Most of our individual volunteers give a few hours of their time each week or month and help us with the running of the daycentre – helping out in the kitchen with food and drink preparation; serving lunch; sorting through our donations are just a few examples. If you are interested in finding out more and helping us end rough sleeping please contact us and we can discuss ways to help.

Community Groups

We already have a number of community groups and churches volunteering with us.

Often they will regularly provide a meal for 50 people and take over the kitchen for the day ensuring our guests have a healthly and hearty meal. Doing this on a regular basis (ie monthly) is a massive help to us and our guests always enjoy these days. We also welcome groups on a one off basis helping us run the daycentre and spending invaluable time with our guests. If you are part of a group and would like to discuss this please get in touch with us.

Community Champions

We love it when people have the same passion as us to end rough sleeping and we have a number of community champions.

These volunteers help spread the word of SHOC’s work across the community. Often setting up donation points and fundraising events in their place of work, schools or community groups; arranging for our staff to come in and highlight the work of SHOC with their colleagues and friends.

The feedback we receive is that it is highly rewarding to be a community champion. If this is something that interests you please get in touch so we can discuss and get you on board as part of the team ending rough sleeping in Slough.
